Following spending time in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander collection at the Australian Museum I created this work, drawing on my strong emotional response to seeing the collection. Depicting a abstract version of a hunt of a mythological beast, a shaman wearing a large costume blesses the spear of the hunter as he leaves the village. Part drawing part abstract topographical map this work captures the sense of the chase and the romantic magic of the artefacts and is reminiscent of the birds eye view paintings in traditional Aboriginal art.
The work is made using crumpled Himalayan Rice Paper with drawn and painted images in ink. The work is framed professionally by the John and Seamus at Frame Art Stanmore using a floating mount technique in a deep edge frame.
Shipping on this product is $100 due to the fragile nature of the artwork and frame, local pick up is preferred, this is included in the shown price, please contact Travis at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to enquire about a local pickup.
